Crisis Clean-up Hotline Needs Volunteers

NEVOAD contacted Nebraska Extension seeking volunteers to help monitor the Crisis Clean-up Hotline. This is the hotline people call if they need any help with clean-up after a flood/disaster (debris removal, cut fallen trees, remove drywall, flooring, appliance, furniture, tarp roofs etc). Services are free from vetted organizations.

About the Crisis Clean-up Hotline:

The Crisis Clean-up Hotline is a virtual call center. Volunteers may work anywhere that is convenient for them (e.g. home, office, etc.)
The hotline is currently scheduled to be open during business hours. Scheduling shifts are up to each organization. During slow periods, volunteers focus exclusively on call-backs to avoid wasting their time.
It is better to schedule a shorter shift each day for a longer period (example: couple hours a day for a week) than one long shift for one day.
There is no age limit on who can volunteer, however some of the calls can be emotional and draining. Any youth volunteers under age 18 should have adult support/supervision - best judgement here.
Training provided

If you know of other organizations who may want to volunteer (ie faith-based organization, service clubs - Kiwanis, Rotary and more), please let them know of this need as well.

Any group or organization that would like to volunteer to schedule a shift on the hotline, contact Aaron at aaron@crisiscleanup.org or Ross at ross@crisiscleanup.org.
