Welcome back to another semester! I will be offering walk-ins during the afternoon each day this week before returning to my regular walk-in schedule of Tuesday afternoons. If you need to make adjustments to your spring schedule, please come and see me.

Below are this week's advising updates:

* For those of you graduating in May - the graduation application will close on January 31st. Please make sure you apply if you intend on graduating in May.

* Please bookmark this link for important deadlines like registration refunds, last day to drop and changing to pass/no pass: https://registrar.unl.edu/academic-calendar/#tab2.

* Next Tuesday is the last day to make changes to your schedule and to receive a 100% refund if dropping a course.

SPRING GEOGRAPHY JOBS ON-CAMPUS:

Farm Service Agency Slides Processing: Assist in organizing a collection of Natural Resource Conservation Service (NRCS) digital photography slides from the mid-1980s to 2001. Examine scanned slides, verify locations, and assign identifiers using provided naming protocols. a. Hours – Flexible (10-20 hrs/)
b. Location – Lincoln, NE. Will work independently/remotely.
c. Qualifications – Good organizational and computer skills, with experience using Microsoft Excel. Access to UNL network computers and/or personal computer with up-to-date operating system and good internet connectivity.
d. Salary– $11-12 per hour

GIS Student Assistant
Department/Office: School of Natural Resources/CALMIT
Rate of Pay: ~$12-14/hr, depending on GIS experience
Working Hours: 10-20 hours/week, flexible schedule
Location: Hardin Hall, UNL East Campus
Job Description: Photo interpretation of aerial imagery using GIS software for a U.S. Forest Service Great Plains windbreak mapping project.

Responsibilities include: 
- Photo interpretation using 1-meter NAIP imagery 
- Creating and editing features and attributes in GIS software
- Managing raster and vector data

Skills Required: 
- Experience with ESRI GIS software (ArcGIS Desktop and/or ArcGIS Pro)  - Knowledge of GIS data formats, organization, and management
- Familiarity with 1-meter NAIP imagery preferred.
