Hello Geology Majors,
Welcome to the Fall 2021 semester! For all of our new Geology majors, welcome to the University of Nebraska - Lincoln, the College of Arts and Sciences, and the Department of Earth & Atmospheric Sciences! For all of our returning Geology majors, welcome back to school!
In order to gain the full benefits of being on campus and meeting in person, we all have to do our best to ensure that we keep the safety and health of ourselves and everyone in the UNL community at the forefront of our minds. If you have already been vaccinated, please add your name to UNL’s vaccine registry. If you haven’t been vaccinated, please consider taking advantage of the vaccinations available at the University Health Center. Please follow the CDC and Lincoln/Lancaster County Health Department guidance for indoor activities, which currently requires facial coverings or masking. Your course syllabi may also contain policies concerning masks if masks some being required.
In addition to reading your syllabi for masking requirements, the first week of class is an excellent time to read and review each course syllabus to get a complete understanding the expectations and policies. Your course syllabi should also give you a good understanding of when major projects, papers, exams, and presentations will be due. Taking the time now to plan for weeks with multiple classes having major assignments due will really help you later this semester. Make a calendar of all of your major coursework throughout the semester, which will keep you from being surprised later this fall. I would also strongly encourage to setup a schedule for each week to make sure that you are managing your time wisely. If you have any trouble making a calendar from your syllabi or developing a time management schedule, please don't hesitate to come see me.
Lastly, please be sure to check your email and your Canvas account at least daily to make sure you are aware of any issues that come up during the semester.
