Hello Geology Majors,

I hope that you had an enjoyable Labor Day weekend and are ready to get into the main part of the fall semester. As you settle into the fall semester, there are many resources available to you to help with your academics. The most important resource that you have is your course instructor and your course TA if you have one. I would strongly encourage you to use your instructor's office hours or to schedule an appointment with them to receive help with your class. Remember, your course instructor wants you to succeed in their course. Here are a few academic resources outside of your course instructor that you might find useful this semester:

- The Chemistry Resource Center - provides Chemistry tutoring from 8–5 on Mondays–Fridays via Zoom with the links provided to students currently enrolled in Chemistry courses

- The Math Resource Center - provides in-person and on Zoom assistance with MATH 100A, 101, 102, 103, 104, 106, 107, and 107H on Sundays through Thursdays

- The Physics Resource Center - provides Physics and Astronomy tutoring for 100- and 200-level courses from 9-5 on Mondays-Fridays

- The Modern Language Lab - provides tutoring in French, German, and Spanish at varying times on Mondays-Fridays

- The Writing Center - provides in-person and online help by appointment with many different kinds of writing assignments and the assignments don't have to be for English writing classes

- The Center for Academic Success and Transition's (CAST) Study Stop - provides one-on-one tutoring in a wide variety of subjects on an appointment basis; appointments are scheduled through MyPlan

- The Office of Academic Success and Intercultural Services' (OASIS) Study Studio - provides in-person and online tutoring in a variety of different subjects from 5-8 pm on Mondays-Thursdays

In addition to the above resources, CAST offers one-on-one academic success coaching and weekly success workshops on a variety of topics. All of the above resources are great, and I would strongly encourage you to use them as you need them.

I would also be happy to help with anything as you work through the fall semester.

Best wishes, Doug
