Hello Geology Majors,
I hope that you are doing well and that you are having a restful or productive fall semester break. We have officially completed half of the Fall 2022 semester at this point, so it is a good time to reflect upon how the fall semester has gone for you so far.
Any good reflection starts with a series of questions:
1) What has not gone well during the fall semester so far?
2) What has gone well during the fall semester so far?
3) What cannot be changed about the fall semester that you could potentially change for next semester?
4) What can you change for the second half of the fall semester?
5) What do you want to accomplish during the second half of the fall semester?
6) What have you accomplished during the first half of the fall semester that you are proud of?
7) What challenges do you have during the second half of the fall semester?
8) What opportunities do you have during the second half of the fall semester?
These are the most powerful and impactful questions that I can think to answer about your experience so far this fall. I hope that the answers help you have a great second half of the fall semester and help you with planning for the Spring 2023 semester.
Priority Registration
This is your third reminder from me that Priority Registration for the Spring 2023 semester starts on Monday, October 24th. Now is the time to start using your Degree Audit, your Degree Planner, and the Enrollment Scheduler to determine what your Spring 2023 semester will look like. My advising meeting times are filling up faster than they have in past semesters, so I would strongly recommend that you schedule a meeting with me as soon as possible if you want to discuss your course plan for the Spring 2023 semester.
Academic Probation
I know that there are a few of you on academic probation for the current Fall 2022 semester. I have lifted very few probation holds on registration for the Spring 2023 semester, and I truly want to work with you to get these holds lifted. Ignoring your academic probation holds will not make them go away, and I really want to help you. However, you have to take the first step, which is completing the probation self-assessment form and scheduling a meeting with me.
Best wishes, Doug
