Name: Morgan Madsen
Major: Geology
Year in School: Sophomore

Where are you from?

I am from Lincoln, Nebraska.

What gets you excited about Geology?

Geology is exciting to me because it helps us understand the past by looking at clues from the present.

Favorite Geology class or instructor so far? Why?

My favorite Geology class so far is Environmental Geophysics because it is interesting to learn about the equipment used to give us a look underneath the Earth’s surface.

What are you excited about doing after graduation?

I’m excited about doing more research in grad school, and I hope to publish a paper.

What is a goal you have accomplished as a Husker?

One of my biggest goals that I accomplished as a Husker is doing undergraduate research through UCARE and giving presentations on it to large groups of people.

What do you wish you would have known when you started as a Geology Major that you know now?

I wish I would’ve known all of the opportunities that would be provided as a Geology major at UNL. There are so many different internships and programs that I can be a part of that I didn’t know about right away. If I had known sooner, I would have signed up for more experiences.

What do you hope to cross off your “bucket list” in the next few years?

In the next few years, I want to travel somewhere out of the country. I have been to Europe once and I would really like a chance to go back and explore a bit more.
