Why Getting Lost is a Good Thing

Why Getting Lost is a Good Thing

If you have ever felt lost or overwhelmed about your career, you are not alone! Here are some reasons why getting lost is a good thing, and how sitting in this discomfort can help in your career planning.

At some point during college, you (and many of your peers) may experience an overwhelming feeling of not knowing which direction to go with your life. You may question what to major in, what career to pursue, or whether to stay in school. While this can be pretty uncomfortable, getting lost is actually ESSENTIAL to figure out the right path for YOU.

Here’s 5 reasons why:
1. It means you’re asking yourself the right questions – questions that are big and important, like ‘Who am I?’ and ‘What do I want my life to be?’
2. It means you’re not afraid to change your mind and be open to new ideas or opportunities.
3. It means you’re getting closer to figuring out who you really are – a strong career is rooted in strong self-awareness.
4. It means you’re starting to understand how career decisions are made in the real world – it’s a messy process, full of uncertainty.
5. It means you’re not willing to settle for a cookie-cutter life or a life dictated by someone else – creating your own story is more challenging, but most-definitely worth it.
