Apply for the Institute for International Teaching Assistants today

The Office of Graduate Studies is excited to offer our Institute for International Teaching Assistants (ITA) again this year. This annual institute is designed to prepare international graduate students for teaching in the American classroom. It will include pedagogy classes, language classes, and micro-teaching sessions. Given the current situation, we are aware that some international students will not be able to be on campus in July and early August for ITA.

Considering that and the university's guidance on remote classes for the summer, we are planning to offer this remotely this summer. We will likely have some synchronous and asynchronous elements, but those details have not been finalized yet. We are planning to run ITA at the same time of year, July 27 to August 7, so students still need to be available at that time to complete the coursework.

Prospective graduate teaching assistants who do not speak English as a native language and who are not graduates of a U.S. college or university must successfully complete the Institute for International Teaching Assistants. Visit our website for more information on the institute, eligibility requirements, and waivers.

Applications to the institute can be completed and submitted online by a department representative. Applications will not be accepted if submitted by a student. Department representatives should email Lisa Rohde at lrohde2@unl.edu for instructions and a link to the online application. Please contact Lisa Rohde if you have any other questions as well.
