Graduate students, postdocs can earn teaching certifications through CIRTL

If you are interested in a career in academia, one great way to demonstrate your expertise in teaching is through CIRTL certifications. CIRTL is an international network of universities which aims to enhance undergraduate education by supporting the next generation of instructors. The CIRTL Network offers a variety of teaching programming to students through their online courses, workshops, learning communities, and other resources. These resources are open to graduate students and postdocs in any discipline. CIRTL@Nebraska offers three levels of certification (Associate, Practitioner, and Scholar) all of which will require completing teaching workshops or other programming around teaching.

CIRTL Associate at Nebraska requires:

  1. Submitting a Teaching Philosophy
  2. Completing one Learning
  3. Community/Course on Teaching
  4. Completing 4 Workshops on Teaching and submitting a reflective memo
  5. A Teaching Observation through our Teaching Development program or Observing two instructors and submitting a reflective memo
