To the Graduate and Professional Student Community,
As we navigate this semester, I recognize many of us may be finding our way through difficult times. I also know that events we are seeing in the news impact some of us personally. There are moments when it seems bad news only compounds without relief. Taking care of our well-being is especially important when this feeling sets in.
As these difficulties arise, you do not have to experience them alone.
If you are facing feelings of sadness, fear, or confusion, then I encourage you to reach out to others for support. Asking for help may take some courage, but it is necessary to prioritizing our wellness. I encourage anyone who is experiencing these feelings to review and turn to the campus resources and support units below.
- Reach out to your faculty advisor or the graduate chair of your program for support, community, and resources.
- Look to the Women’s Center and the LGBTQA+ Center on the third floor of Nebraska Union for gender- and sexuality-inclusive advocacy.
- Visit the Office of Academic Success and Intercultural Services (OASIS) at the Jackie Gaughan Multicultural Center for support from and for our multicultural community.
- Husker Hub at huskerhub@unl.edu or 402-472-2030 can help with financial difficulties, including the potential for emergency aid.
- Counseling & Psychological Services invites those in distress to speak with caring professionals; call 402-472-7450 for on-call assistance.
