Accommodations, support available to graduate students during seasonal exposure to illnesses

The Lincoln community has been hit with a wave of seasonal illnesses with significantly elevated exposure to flu, COVID, and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV). There are many among us with disabilities, both visible and invisible, that disproportionately increase the risks and barriers associated with being exposed to illness. And, many of us care for children or loved ones with vulnerable immune systems, for whom RSV can be deadly.

All whom need support to reach out for help with flexible scheduling, remote participation, or other accommodation needs that would make it possible to continue to engage in classes, research, and other important activities while navigating a particularly bad illness season are encouraged to reach out to find an individualized solution that ensures your safety and participation.

Graduate students should rely on their first line of support in their own mentors, instructors, and lab teams. Additionally, there are resources for getting help and getting healthy on the Student Affairs website in the red menu near the top.
