Nominations for selective program to prepare future faculty due by March 6

Preparing Future Faculty (PFF) is a selective program to help advanced graduate students who are interested in careers as faculty members prepare for a faculty career.

Through PFF, participants learn about faculty roles and responsibilities (research/scholarship, teaching, AND service) and gain direct knowledge of the diversity of higher education institutions (large public research, liberal arts, comprehensive, private religious, etc.) through a structured mentoring experience with partner institution mentors. Those who complete the PFF program are better prepared for the academic job search and are more successful in their first faculty position.

PFFs will complete a course in early summer (May 30-June 9, 2023) and, in the fall, engage in a mentoring experience with a faculty member at a partner institution or similar university to learn about faculty life at those institutions. Interested students must be nominated by their departments.

If you are interested, please speak to your graduate chair about nominating you. If you have any questions about the program or how to nominate a student, please contact Lisa Rohde at lrohde2@unl.edu.
