Job: Associate Dean for Professional Development

The Office of Graduate Studies is looking for a tenured member of the UNL graduate faculty to serve as the next Associate Dean for Professional Development.

This key leadership oversees a dynamic team of four full-time staff who provide professional development for current graduate and professional students and postdoctoral fellows at UNL as well as coordinates orientation for new students. The Associate Dean also provides oversight for our pipeline to graduate school programs such as Summer Research Program.

OGS professional development programing includes numerous offerings such as training in teaching, teaching assistant workshops, Preparing Future Faculty, and CIRTI@ Nebraska. Professional development staff members also provide workshops on topics of current interest, often in collaboration with graduate programs or colleges. Depending on time and interest, the Associate Dean may develop or deliver professional development programming themselves.

The Associate Dean serves on the OGS Leadership Team, contributing to the strategic direction and daily operations of the Office of Graduate Studies. There are opportunities to connect with peers in higher education and travel to BAA and Council of Graduate Schools meetings.
