Amy Peterson currently serves as the Administrative Technician in the Pound Business Cooperative at UNL, primarily supporting the Philosophy Department. For nearly four years in this role, she has efficiently managed departmental support, course scheduling, and evaluations and assisted graduate students, significantly contributing to the smooth operations within the department.
Her professional journey was inspired by her undergraduate professor, Dr. Linda Curcio, at the University of Nevada, Reno, where Amy earned her BA in History. Dr. Curcio's passion for knowledge left a lasting impression on Amy, shaping her career path and dedication to supporting students.
One of Amy’s proudest moments came recently when she spoke at the South Central Conference on Mesoamerica on October 20th in Baton Rouge. Having first attended this conference as a graduate student at Tulane University in 2014, returning as a speaker felt like a full-circle moment for her.
Known for her remarkable efficiency and strong work ethic, Amy handles multiple tasks simultaneously and ensures that requests are addressed promptly. Her attentiveness and dedication have made her an invaluable asset to the Philosophy Department.
Beyond her professional responsibilities, Amy brings warmth and positivity to the office. She often decorates for holidays and lifts spirits during stressful times like midterms. She believes that maintaining a positive atmosphere benefits both herself and her colleagues.
A fun fact about Amy is that her recent trip to Baton Rouge allowed her to explore new states—Alabama, Kentucky, and Tennessee—bringing her total to 30 states visited. Outside of work, Amy credits her mother as the greatest influence in her life, describing her as someone who always provided guidance and laughter during her childhood.
Amy treasures her ability to support students in the same way she was once supported. She hopes to be remembered for her willingness to help others and for fostering a positive environment, embodying the spirit of our graduate community at UNL.
