Since her arrival on campus in August 2022, Margot has established herself as a pivotal figure within the Glenn Korff School of Music. As a Graduate Teaching Assistant, she plays a vital role in the education of Music Performance and Music Education students, teaching three essential courses each semester and offering six one-on-one applied voice lessons weekly.
The feedback from her students speaks volumes about her impact: evaluations highlight the low-pressure and welcoming classroom environment she fosters, the flawless execution of class operations, and the overall amazing experience students have under her guidance. A standout moment in her career occurred when she learned the demanding role of "Violetta" in Verdi's LA TRAVIATA for the Fall 2023 Nebraska tour in just six weeks after a cast member's departure—a feat usually reserved for 6 to 12 months of preparation.
Margot's contributions extend beyond her teaching responsibilities. She volunteers her time coaching undergraduate singers for UNL opera productions, participates in her peers’ degree recitals, and shares her insights with aspiring educators, drawing from her experience as a public middle school teacher. Her enthusiasm, organization, and energy resonate with her students, making her a significant force in the GKSOM.
Moreover, Margot is dedicated to fostering a sense of community among students. She provides informal mentorship to new graduate students through study groups, performance opportunities, and social events, helping them find their footing in Lincoln. Her generous spirit is recognized by both Master’s and Doctoral students, and her positive attitude is a true asset to both faculty and peers.
Margot embodies our graduate community at UNL, inspiring everyone around her with her commitment, passion, and determination to create a lasting impact. If you know someone who is making a difference in our community, consider nominating them here.
