Whether you’re staying close to campus or traveling for spring break, the University Health Center wants to keep you healthy and safe. Check out these tips to have a safe and memorable time off from school.
First things first: have a first aid kit
A first aid kit is a must-have for any trip – you never know when you might need a bandage or pain reliever. Stop by the pharmacy for expert advice on what essentials to pack. Depending on your destination, don’t forget sunscreen, insect repellent and motion sickness medication. If you take prescription medications, make sure to pick them up before heading out!
Traveling internationally? Be prepared.
If your plans include leaving the country, check if any vaccinations or medications are recommended for your destination. Our travel clinic can provide guidance on the necessary immunizations and precautions for your itinerary. Schedule an appointment in advance to ensure you're protected.
Use condom sense
Condoms and dental dams help prevent sexually transmitted infections. Have them handy even if you don’t plan on being sexually active – a friend might need it! Free condoms are available throughout the University Health Center, so stock up before leaving for break!
Want to take extra precautions? Consider scheduling an STI test before you leave. Doctor-ordered chlamydia, gonorrhea, and HIV testing are covered services through student fees.
