The Office of Graduate Studies is delighted to welcome Dr. Sophie Kowalski as the new Assistant Director of Graduate & Professional Student Experience. In this role, Dr. Kowalski will lead efforts to foster a supportive, inclusive, and enriching experience for all graduate and professional students.
Her work will focus on key areas such as onboarding and orientation, collaboration with campus partners to enhance student services, and providing holistic support to students throughout their academic journey. In addition, Dr. Kowalski will contribute to strategic initiatives that promote student success, well-being, and community building across the graduate population.
Dr. Kowalski earned her Ph.D. in Educational Psychology with a specialization in Developmental and Learning Sciences from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln in August 2024. During her time at UNL, she served as a Graduate Assistant for the McNair Scholars Program within the Office of Graduate Studies, where she supported first-generation and underrepresented students.
