Do you have data that is not ready for analysis? Are you unsure what all you need to do with “dirty” data? In this workshop, we will go through what data cleaning means, what you should know in preparation for data cleaning, and best practices before working with a provided dataset in Excel to fix common issues found in “dirty” data. We will also discuss common ways to modify the structure of variables to meet analytic needs. If time allows, we will talk about managing identifiers and adding data points.
This workshop is a combination of interactive lecture and hands-on work in Excel with a tabular dataset. Focus is on general data principles, with some specific information related to human subjects, quantitative, and qualitative data. Registration is required, and space is limited.
