Free Course
Sign up now at EdX.org for a free, 8-week, online course about evidence-based teaching. It’s designed to provide future STEM faculty (graduate students and post-doctoral associates) with an introduction to effective teaching strategies and the research that supports them. Completing the course can be applied to earning CIRTL Associate status at UNL. The course begins Monday, June 11! Register at https://bit.ly/2LoGTMl

But Wait, There’s More!
As a companion experience to the online course, the Office of Graduate Studies is hosting an in-person course-centered learning community. We’ll meet weekly to discuss course material and assignments, providing assistance and support. Data from previous courses show that online students who also participate in-person are more likely to complete the course and learn more than those who take it alone. After you register for the course, join the LCL (local learning community) by emailing nbryan@unl.edu. Our first meeting will be Friday, June 15!

About CIRTL
CIRTL is the Center for the Integration of Research, Teaching, and Learning. It's an international network of doctoral-granting institutions with the mission of improving undergraduate education by training the future faculty of the world. Everything CIRTL does is based on three core ideas: Teaching as Research (that is, evidence-based teaching), Learning Communities, and the idea of Learning through Diversity.

How CIRTL Can Help You
Future faculty members are invited to participate in three levels of engagement: Associates (who are learning the principles), Practitioners (who put those principles into practice) and Scholars (who publish research). Learning objectives are established for each engagement level and are incorporated in events across the CIRTL network and at UNL. Achieving any CIRTL status Visit CIRTL.net and the CIRTL@Nebraska site to get involved.
