A series of technology training resources at edmedia.unl.edu/techtraining can help those looking to brush up on their technology skills from iPads and social media to teaching tools and web development.
Educational Media's Technology Training offers resources for support of teaching, research and outreach activities.
"It's exciting to live in a time and work at a university where technology creates so many opportunities for our students, faculty and staff," said Brandon Schulte, director of EdMedia at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. "However, at times, this constantly changing technological environment can be overwhelming. This series demonstrates some of the best ways for our faculty to incorporate technology into their teaching and research."
Technology Training topics include: Beginning iPad, Using Technology for Teaching, Social Media and Best Practices for Web Development.
Monthly seminars at 11 a.m. in the Nebraska East Union or via Adobe Connect will introduce and answer questions on the current video topics.
The first monthly seminar on Sept. 19 will touch on beginning iPad topics related to setting up email accounts, setting up calendars, iPad settings and tips and help on making a great mobile website.
An Oct. 19 seminar will cover Blackboard mobile, teaching online, marking up PDF files and protecting your passwords.
Nov. 14 will cover social media including social media planning, Hootsuite, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Twitter, Facebook and TweetDeck.
Dec. 12 will cover web development including best practices for websites, SEO and broken link checker.
