INTSORMIL farewell reception March 20

A farewell reception to honor the INTSORMIL Program administrators and staff will be held at the Nebraska East Union Great Plains Room from 4-5 p.m. PM on Wednesday, March 20. There will be a short program beginning at 4:15 PM.

The International Sorghum and Millet Collaborative Research Support Program (INTSORMIL) was established in 1979 through the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) as one of nine CRSP programs supported by USAID. INTSORMIL supports international research to improve nutrition and increase income in developing countries and the United States. The program’s main focus is on enhancing production and uses of sorghum, millet and other grains to identify new farming practices that improve yields, reduce losses to pests and protects natural resources. INTSORMIL researchers were located at UNL, Kansas State University, Mississippi State University, Ohio State University, Purdue University, Texas A&M University and West Texas A&M University and work with scientists around the world. Funding for the program will end March 31.

The honorees include John Yohe, Director; Elvis “Short” Heinrichs, Assistant Director; Joan Frederick, administrative support; Diane Sullivan, accounting associate; Kimberly Christiansen, business support associate; and Tony Michaelsen, staff member.

Please come and celebrate the successes of this great program and staff.
