Empowering farm/ranch women to be better business partners through networks and by managing and organizing critical information.

Annie grew up in a small town in Illinois. She married a farmer and spent her lifetime learning how to be an involved business partner with her husband. Enterprises were ended and started because of Annie’s detailed recordkeeping. Annie’s Project is a continuation of the knowledge Annie learned. Together her and her husband did great things, but it wasn’t easy.

This is Annie’s Project – to take her life’s experiences and share it with farm and ranch women living and working in a complex, dynamic, evolving business environment.

Annie’s Project is designed to empower farm and ranch women to manage information systems used in critical decision making processes and to build local networks throughout the state. The target audience is farm and ranch women with a passion for business and involvement.

Annie’s Project comprises 6 classes held over three weeks. Classes will be held in the evenings from 6-9 pm CT at Brahmer’s Steakhouse in Thedford on May 22, 23, 29, 30, and June 5-6. The focus will be on beef enterprises, but some crop information will be covered.

Knowing how to handle risk and keeping records is important for any woman in a ranching business. Production, financial, legal, market, and human resource risks will all be discussed at Annie’s Project. Notebooks, handouts, flashdrives, and supper are included with the registration fee. Laptop computers are available to use during the sessions.

Learning how to work with different personalities, estate and transition planning, what goes into a business plan, what to include in a pasture lease, what financial documents are important, insurance needs (life, health, long term, crop/forage), drought management resources, how to interpret your financial records, and range management will be covered. Participants are able to choose topics for the final session.
