Nebraska Broadband Initiative conference Oct. 16-17

The Nebraska Broadband Initiative's annual conference aims to show professionals how businesses are taking advantage of broadband technology.

The Broadband Connecting Nebraska Conference will be Oct. 16-17 at the Younes Conference Center in Kearney.

"We are really trying to build awareness across all industry segments about the impact of technologies and broadband in particular," said Rod Armstrong, the AIM vice president of strategic partnerships. "We want to highlight some success stories from across the state of companies, ag producers and organizations that are doing some really innovative things through broadband."

The keynote speaker at the event will be Jack Uldrich, a global futurist and bestselling author of the book "Jump the Curve: Staying Ahead of Emerging Technologies."

"Just about everyone is impacted one way or another by technology these days," Armstrong said. "There are some great examples across the state of small companies and small communities that have extended their market reach globally; they're managing fleets of trucks across the country and just a wide range of activities that are improving their business organizations through broadband."

Registration opens for the conference at 7:30 a.m. on Oct. 16.

The day's topics will include data and information security, marketing through broadband and entrepreneurship through broadband, e-commerce, business management through broadband and people attraction through broadband.

The next day will also begin at 7:30 a.m. and will feature a panel of broadband providers and community members.
