ICMEE Project Represented in Copenhagen

ECER 2017 Roundtable Discussion with ICMEE
ECER 2017 Roundtable Discussion with ICMEE

Members of the ICMEE team have long participated in an international collaboration called the Multilingual Learner Research Group. This group presented collaborations across varying national contexts, with a particular focus on ICMEE eWorkshops as part of the research conference for educational researchers across Europe in Copenhagen. ICMEE eWorkshops have already been translated into German and Finnish and used for varying purposes in those two contexts. There are plans for ICMEE eWorkshops to be adapted into the English (Great Britain, but specifically England) context as well. Further, the mutual collaboration of the research group was highlighted where measurement instruments developed in Germany are now also being translated and tested in Finnish and English (and in the Finnish and US context). In fact, it is one of the explicit goals of the ICMEE project to finalize two instruments that were originally created in German and Germany: the Pedagogical Language Knowledge Test and the Beliefs about Multilingualism in Schools Survey.
The Multilingual Learner Research Group is planning to grow and develop a method for ongoing learning and collaboration across national boundaries via 4-5 annual online meetings via zoom.
