A VPN creates a secure connection to University of Nebraska networks, allowing access to restricted campus resources remotely. Faculty and staff are often required to use a VPN to access internal university computer systems, such as research workstations, file shares or web applications.

Beginning June 21, Information Technology Services will automatically install GlobalProtect on all ITS-managed devices that currently have Cisco AnyConnect installed. This shift allows users a week to transition to GlobalProtect and verify functionality before the Cisco AnyConnect service ends on June 30. On July 9, the AnyConnect client will be automatically uninstalled from all ITS-managed devices.

GlobalProtect is available for download through a computer’s Software Center (Windows) and Self Service (Mac). It can also be installed manually here using TrueYou credentials here and clicking “GlobalProtect Agent” in the top right of the screen. The process automatically selects the software version needed for a device.
