International Student and Scholar Office (ISSO) invites students to volunteer to model at "Global Glam: A Night of Fashion, Diversity and Community."

Students are invited to model either their traditional clothing from their home countries and/or multicultural heritage or choose to model looks from UNL students in the Textiles, Merchandising & Fashion Design department or one of our local community partners during the fashion show March 26 at the Wick Alumni Center.

The event will be held from 5:30 to 9:00 p.m., but volunteers are expected to arrive early for a hair and makeup session.

Students interested in volunteering are required to register to sign-up before Feb. 23. After their registration, students will receive more details, such as dress rehearsals schedules.

Domestic and international students who own traditional clothing from their home countries and cultural heritages are invited to volunteer to model for the show. There is no age, size or gender requirement.

Inspired by the #BreakTheBias social media campaign that promotes solidarity, the goal of "Global Glam" is to demonstrate the multiplicity and range of possibilities that beauty is represented.

"We hope to showcase the rich traditions and cultures that our students in Nebraska represent," said Natalie Baskin, International Student Success Navigator. "We envision the night as an opportunity for international and domestic students, along with members of the community, to gather and celebrate diversity through clothing and style."

Sponsored by the International Student and Scholar Office (ISSO), Student Leadership, Involvement & Community Engagement (SLICE) and University Housing, this first-time event will feature clothing designed by students from the Textiles, Merchandising and Fashion Design program and accessories from Lincoln's local independent retailers.

Additional activities include a performance by students from the Glen Korff School of Music and an open market featuring crafts and designs from local immigrant artisans for sale.

All volunteers will be provided with food, including a pre-show pizza party and access to catering by Venue restaurant during the event. Volunteers may also get a free raffle ticket. Students interested in volunteering as makeup artists are also encouraged to sign up.
