In the United States, a pharmacy is a place that sells medicine. You can get two categories of medication at the pharmacy: prescriptions and over-the-counter items.

You need permission to take some medications. Getting permission to take a medication is called a prescription. A prescription is an order from your doctor or medical provider that tells the pharmacy the specific medicine you need and how often you need to take it.

You do not need permission from a doctor to take over-the-counter medicines. Our pharmacy can sell over-the-counter items directly to you – many of these are very inexpensive. Some over-the-counter products include cough drops, lotion, cold medicine, pain relievers, and more.

Our pharmacy team is fast and friendly. You can ask our team any questions you have when picking up your medication. They can also help you find over-the-counter medicines like those used in your home country. For example, the pain reliever paracetamol is commonly called by the brand name Tylenol in the United States. In many other countries, this is known as Panadol.

The health center pharmacy is the only on-campus option for students to pick up prescriptions. When you feel sick, our pharmacy team can help you find over-the-counter medications to help you feel better.
