NUTech Career Crossroads Events for Graduate Students

Graduation is coming! You will soon have a very valuable asset – your graduate degree. What are you going to do with it? Did you know that only about 25% of PhD recipients will receive a tenure-track job in academia? Join us for two engaging events as we explore other career options outside of the traditional academic career path. You’ll hear from a number of guest speakers and get to network with other students from a variety of backgrounds.

Event 1: Wednesday, March 27 from 10:00-11:00am

Location: Nebraska City Union - Platte River Room

About the Panelists:
• Troy P. Anderson is a patent attorney with Suiter Swantz IP. Troy holds a Ph.D. and M.S. in Optics from the College of Optics at the University of Central Florida, as well as a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Nebraska Lincoln. Troy received his Juris Doctor from the University of Nebraska College of Law.
• Jessica Minnick is a technology manager at NUtech Ventures. Prior to holding this role, she worked as a commercialization analyst intern and a technology commercialization fellow at NUtech Ventures. Jessica completed her B.S. in chemistry at Georgia College and State University and then attended the University of Nebraska–Lincoln for her Ph.D. in chemistry, which she completed in July 2021.
• Brad Roth is president and executive director of NUtech Ventures. He also serves as associate vice chancellor for technology development at University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL). Prior to joining NUtech Ventures, Brad was director of business development, biotechnology at LI-COR, Inc. He was also a technology manager at University of Illinois-Urbana-Champaign's Office of Technology Management. He previously held research manager and technology scouting/licensing coordinator positions at DuPont/Pioneer. Brad earned a Ph.D. in genetics from Iowa State University, B.S. in Biological Sciences from UNL and was a post-doctoral research geneticist at USDA/UC-Berkeley Plant Gene Expression Center.

About the Featured Speaker:

Leandro Castro is the Co-founder of Logica, a visual, collaborative platform for dynamic analysis, planning, and forecasting. He also co-founded MultiMechanics, a material modeling and simulation software company, which was acquired by Siemens. As a successful entrepreneur, Leandro spends much of his time giving back to the community through the Pipeline Entrepreneurs program and other initiatives. He attended graduate school at UNL's college of Engineering.
