Communications/Social Media Intern - Nebraska Chamber of Commerce & Industry (Lincoln, NE)

The Nebraska Chamber of Commerce & Industry is seeking an organized, self-motivated, excellent writer to act as a part-time communications/social media and/or legislative intern. English, journalism or marketing, graphic design, political science and pre-law majors in their junior or senior year of college with past internship experience are preferred. Excellent communication and customer service skills, knowledge of proper spelling and grammar, comfort with database platforms, a passion for writing and social media, familiarity with multiple media formats, and strong attention to detail are essential to succeed in this position. An interest in government policy and business is a plus.

ABOUT THE RESPONSIBILITIES:
This internship will primarily support the internal and external communications content and programs for the state’s leading business organization, with occasional support of the Nebraska Chamber’s legislative policy service and leadership development programs. The intern will work with our communications team to build valuable member newsletters, announcements, presentations, correspondence and invitations, help develop and enhance a social media plan to promote Nebraska Chamber members and activities and to grow followers and impressions. Other duties assigned according to strengths and interest.

Part-time interns will be compensated $12 - $15 an hour, depending on skill level. The Nebraska Chamber offers a flexible schedule typically between 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. to accommodate student’s classes.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
> Research, draft and edit digital newsletter articles
> Design and layout articles in online newsletter
> Assist with copywriting for brochures, reports and other marketing materials
> Daily media monitoring for news articles critical to Chamber members
> Help develop and execute quarterly social media strategy
> Work with communications team to identify and publish high-level messaging and strategy
> Monitor and report on trends in Nebraska business and industry
> Perform administrative and research support for Leadership Nebraska, the legislative policy team and membership
> Other duties assigned according to strengths and interests
