The Communications Intern will work under the supervision of the Communications Director and gain experience in working in advancing civil liberties by shaping how the public relates to the ACLU and civil liberties issues. The ACLU of Nebraska's communications program has a weekly social media reach of over 20,000 and approximately 50 local and national media hits per month. Our program mobilizes Nebraskans to take action, educates the public about their rights and influences the way civil liberties are discussed in our state.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
> Draft online content and event promotion posts.
> Upload website content and assist with online content strategies.
> Assist on social media research and outreach list building.
> Monitor program mentions, keywords, trends, and social media platforms.
> Maintain media list; ensure contacts are up-to-date and include relevant interactions with the organization.
> Assist with quarterly reporting on communications activities.
> Staff public education/outreach booths at community events.
> Other duties as assigned.
