Catalyst Public Affairs is accepting online applications for a student internship position focused on public policy communications and social media management. Applicants must have junior standing, at a minimum. Work schedule can be designed to accommodate academic class schedules; however, availability to work 15-20 hours per week is required.
This internship is designed to provide students hands-on opportunities to work in the public policy arena. The successful intern can expect an opportunity to build a network of contacts who can serve as advisors or mentors and a chance to develop a portfolio of digital and written communications material.
Responsibilities:
> Produce and edit short-length videos
> Social media monitoring and response
> Write internal and external communications focused on a variety of public policy topics
> Attend meetings with clients and government officials
> Assist with planning and executing company and client events
> Staff legislative hearings and support client reporting
> Other duties, as assigned
This internship is offered from August 1, 2020 to June 15, 2021, with the possibility of a one-year extension beginning in August 2021.
Required qualifications:
> College credits equivalent to two (2) years toward an undergraduate degree in Political Science, Journalism, Communications, Public Relations, English or a closely aligned field
> Basic organization and prioritization skills
> Basic time and project management skills
> Proficient verbal and written communication skills
Preferred qualifications:
> Experience with Microsoft Office Suite
> Familiarity with public policy and/or the Nebraska Legislature
> Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud Design Tools
> Knowledge of audio/video editing and graphic design

Compensation: The Communications/Social Media Intern shall receive compensation in the form of $12/hour.
