Title: Communication Coordinator

Department: Communication Strategy and Issue Management

Position Objective: To develop the organization’s social media strategy, implement it throughout the organization’s current and future channels, and to analyze and measure its
effectiveness in promoting and supporting the organization’s goals and objectives.

Reports To: Vice President/Communication Strategy and Vice President/Issue Management

Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Develop a social media strategy and communicate that strategy on an ongoing basis viawritten communications, presentations and interpersonal engagement with internal stakeholders.
2. Serve as the primary social media communicator through the organization’s major social media channels.
3. Develop metrics to measure the efficacy of the organization’s social media initiatives.
4. Monitor social media trends and adopt new platforms as needed.
5. Provide training and counsel to NEFB departments and County Farm Bureaus.
6. Integrate social media tools and products within the Nebraska Farm Bureau web site.
7. Create digital content for Nebraska Farm Bureau web site —video, podcasts, interactive modules—and other platforms and facilitate acquisition of content from other sources, such as Farm Bureau members.
8. Develop social media component of issues campaigns.
9. Provide oversight for blogging initiatives.
10. Monitor blogs and other social media outlets for impact on the organization.
11. Align organization’s social media efforts and strategy with strategic partners such as Agriculture in the Classroom (AITC); The Alliance for the Future of Agriculture in Nebraska (A-FAN); Common Ground; AgChat; the Center for Food Integrity and the U.S. Farmers and Ranchers Alliance.
12. Prepare a radio program on a weekly basis for use on Nebraska Radio Stations.
13. Operations of audio and video equipment (recorder and video camera as well as editing units) a plus.
14. Writing newspaper, magazine or newsletter stories for member communication pieces developed by members of the Communication Strategy and Issue Management department.
15. Proofreading and copy editing.
16. Assist in other public relations/issues management/public affairs functions as assigned by the Vice Presidents of Communication Strategy and Issue Management.
17. Assist in other duties of the Communication Strategy and Issue Management Team as directed.

RELATIONSHIPS:
To coordinate all social media efforts and to cooperate with other organization staff engaged in social media. To serve as an adviser to the management team regarding social media. To work with county Farm Bureau staff to optimize social media efforts. To interact with outside vendors as necessary to perform duties. To operate as a team member of NEFB’s Communication Strategy and Issue Management Department.

EDUCATION OR TRAINING REQUIRED:
Bachelors degree.

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
· Minimum one year of demonstrable on-the-job social media success in either a marketing,nonprofit or public policy environment.
· Media production and/or web development skills.
· Strong project management skills
· Strong communication, interpersonal and presentation (PowerPoint or Keynote) skills
· Experience working with vendors
· Proficient in industry standard social media platforms and measurement tools.

PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/TRAINING/SKILLS:
Journalism, broadcasting or a communications degree is a plus, as is, public affairs, radio, television, newspaper or public relations agency experience. Agriculture background helpful, but not required.
