Position title: Digital Media Associate
Position description:
The ESPN Digital Media Associate position is a 12-month rotational position
that develops candidates by providing personalized learning experiences based
on individual objectives and current business needs. Digital Media Associates
(DMAs) will gain real-world exposure across ESPN.com platforms, mobile,
video, social and creative design. DMAs will learn how diverse departments
collaborate in the process of identifying and readying newsworthy content for
distribution across ESPN. The DMA program is intended to develop junior-level
associates for increased responsibility within ESPN Digital Media.

Responsibilities
• Upon training, provide assistance to Producers and Supervisors in the
news gathering operation
• Coordinate with the Editorial Staff regarding coverage of
news/events/highlights
• Cover the Multimedia Production Assistant desk; assist News & Video
Editors as required
• Edit & prepare video for ESPN.com and release on mobile and multiple
platforms
• Implement highly routine tasks to support production projects specific to
the Digital Media function
• Work with teams on preparing and sending ESPN’s Breaking News Alerts
• Understand ESPN.com search and how it affects departments across ESPN
Digital Media
• Contribute to processing efficiencies of assigned tasks
• Apply sports knowledge to recognize news stories and distribute to
appropriate departments within ESPN
• Provides and contributes story ideas to generate features (minimum of 4
story ideas per month)
• Understanding the integration process between departments in Digital
Media
• Accountable for strict adherence to established Digital Media Production
procedures
• Articulate fresh perspective to management as requested based on personal
background and experience
• Must be aware of major sporting events and stay on top of developing
trends
Required experience:
Required Education
• Bachelor Degree in a related field (Journalism, Communications, Digital
Media, Graphic Design, etc.)

Basic Qualifications
• Ability to work without direct supervision and communicate daily/weekly
tasks via written reports
• Understanding the integration process between departments in Digital
Media
• Through personal time management and organization of work contributes to
the processing efficiencies of assigned tasks
• Has familiarity with NLE editing systems and video edit basics
• Experience or recent college grad with related internships
• A passion for sports with above average Sports Knowledge
• Team player able to multitask in a fast paced sports news environment
• Proven communication and organizational skills
• Able to work a flexible schedule including nights and weekends
Additional Requirements and General Information (education, skills,
transportation):
Preferred Qualifications
• Successful track record with previous work/internship experience working
in business, design, coding, digital media or related departments.
Program/project management experience a plus.
• Experience in digital media industry (e.g., internet, video, and
broadband)
• Passion for the sports industry with a background in basic sports
knowledge
• Interest in working with innovative products to drive revenue and
profitability growth
• Desire to work collaboratively within ESPN’s matrix organization
• Team player able to self-start and multitask in a fast paced sports news
environment
• Ability to deal with management, associates and business partners in
professional and patient manner
• Proven communication and organizational skills. Multilingual capabilities
a plus.
• Demonstrated personal time management aptitude
• Able to work a flexible schedule including nights and weekends

Preferred Education
• Masters Degree in a related field (Journalism, Communications, Digital
Media, Graphic Design, etc.)
