Description of Work

Responsible for public relations, media relations, image and message development, and general relationship building. Responsible for internal and campus communications, ad sales for current advertisers, non-paid marketing trades/collaborations, communications for Friends of Lied, and Lied Center advocacy. Identify and implement strategies to develop new audience members for different art forms. Develop and implement public relations plans which effectively promote Lied Center season events, the Lied mission, arts education programs, and other programs, including facility and rental services. Manage Lied playbill advertising sales with current advertisers. Work in co-operation with Marketing Manager to maximize media exposure to increase ticket sales income. Work in cooperation with Lied management in building patron and public support of the Lied Center. Develop, implement, monitor and adjust public relations budget/expenditures in cooperation with finance operations.
Minimum Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in arts management, communications, public relations, public administration, marketing or related field including fine arts education, or business, plus two years’ experience that clearly demonstrates an understanding of effective community advocacy and public relations required; equivalent education/experience considered. Excellent written and oral communication skills, and effective public and community relations skills essential. Knowledge of computer applications and planning required. Must have an understanding of media/public relations.
Preferred Qualifications

Prefer Master’s degree in arts management, communications, public relations, public administration, marketing, or related field including fine arts education, or business; successful track record of being responsible for increasing organizational awareness and media coverage in a 2 year period; audience development experience or other background in performing arts; and proven ability to meet deadlines. Experience in institutional budget development and management is beneficial.
