Jacht Ad Lab, the University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s student advertising agency, will host a First Friday showing of work by UNL Professor Bill Shaffer on Friday, May 3 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the new Jacht office at 201 North 8th St. in the Haymarket’s Candy Factory.

Shaffer, a professor of graphic design in the College of Journalism and Mass Communications, will show original drawings, paintings and a poster series of Nebraska landmarks. Shaffer’s work will be available for purchase and signing by the artist.

“At Jacht, we strive to be part of the growing community of artists, developers and creative minds in Lincoln,” said Amy Struthers, Jacht’s founder, supervisor and professor of advertising at UNL. “We love to show off the work of students and faculty from across UNL. It’s special for us to be able to showcase work by an Advertising and Public Relations professor who is also a renowned fine artist. And Bill has contributed so much to our college, teaching so many of our students.”

Jacht, founded in fall 2010 as UNL’s first student advertising agency, is passionate about developing strategic use of social media, digital production, mobile media and other emerging technologies to help clients reach their business goals. This generates a unique student “ad lab” experience that yields professional and engaging creative work. Jacht students partner with clients in an experimental environment where there is opportunity to explore, analyze and test fresh ideas in the constantly evolving digital communications space.
