Campaign Coordinator Paid Internship

The Nutrition and Activity for Health Program within the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services is seeking a student intern to coordinate the Whatcha doin? campaign in select Nebraska communities during the 2011/2012 school year. The "Whatcha doin?" campaign uniquely brings together traditional media strategies, peer-to-peer marketing tactics, and health promotion messaging to engage and empower teens be more active and eat more fruits and vegetables.
The intern must posses qualities needed to establish and/or carry out detailed marketing, evaluation, and communication plans. The intern must be self-driven and able to work independently. Communication and problem solving skills are key qualities needed for this position.

The intern will be responsible for the following duties: Develop a detailed work plan to coordinate campaign activities
o Establishing timelines, tasks, and responsibilities for each media strategy Oversee the implementation of the work plan and planned media activities. Coordinate the creation or revision of media pieces to encompass multi-cultural messaging and to keep the campaign interesting to teens. Work with NE Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) Communications Unit for approval of media development and use. Coordinate meetings with campaign team, schools and community partners. Plan and host training for the participating schools and community members. Plan a session and exhibit at the NE Action for Healthy Kids Summit in April 2012.
The intern will be a paid hourly (base pay: $8 an hour) with a negotiable schedule. Summer: 20-40 hours/week. Fall/Spring Semester: 20 hours/week. The internship will start the week of May 9, 2011, and will go through the second week of May 2012.
The selection of the intern will be done through an application process and face-to-face interviews. The intern will be selected by April 18th.
