Lots of opportunities -- deadlines coming up soon

A lot of opportunities are available for students right here in Lincoln. AAF Lincoln is hosting its annual AD Camp on November 12. There will be speakers, advertising agency tours, breakfast, lunch, T-shirts and goody bags. Registration is available at http://www.adcamp.org.

There are also many competitions and scholarships that have nearing deadlines. The James Alan Cox Foundation scholarship deadline is November 15. The scholarship is $2500 for photojournalism entries. There are four awards for video and one for still photography. More information is available at http://www.go.unl.edu/p7z.

The College Television Awards competition has an entry deadline of January 14, 2014. The competition is for student-produced video, digital and film work. Winners would receive a cash award, trip to LA and networking with top TV executives. Other information is available at http://www.go.unl.edu/i6dg

Along with Lincoln opportunities and scholarships, many internship deadlines are quickly approaching.

The deadline to apply for the New York Times Student Journalism Institute is November 1. It is open to all student members of the National Association of Black Journalists and will be held May 18-June 1 in New Orleans at Dillard University. Apply at http://www.nytimes-institute.com.

The Scripps Howard Foundation is accepting applications from juniors and seniors for their internship in DC. A stipend will be given as well as free housing. Six interns will be taken for the spring 14-week term and six for the 10-week summer term. The deadline for both is November 1. More information is available at http://www.go.unl.edu/wh3t.

The Washington Post is also accepting applications for their 12-week paid internship for the summer. The deadline is open until November 4, and they have positions for all the different areas of journalism. Applications can be found at http://www.intern.washpost.com/.
