Jacht Ad Lab, the College of Journalism and Mass Communications’ student advertising and public relations agency, has moved to a new location in the historic Haymarket district of Lincoln, bringing aboard 19 new students. The agency, which provides advertising and communication services to local and national clients in a real-world setting, is staffed by 13 returning agency personnel as well the new students, who were selected from a large pool of applicants.

“The new space will provide Jacht with a permanent home,” said Amy Struthers, associate professor of advertising and public relations at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. “Our investors and mentors at Nebraska Global built out office space to our specifications. Their support continues to be key to this unique experience for our students.”

Jacht students are drawn from across the UNL campus and have represented a wide range of majors, including advertising and public relations, marketing, accounting, graphic design, journalism, film and news media, broadcasting, economics, finance and business administration. The agency’s student diversity allows their client work to be unique, fresh and mindful.

“We are digital natives who work hard to develop innovative solutions for our clients,” said student CEO Tiler Grossman, a senior advertising and public relations major. “Students at Jacht earn three credit hours but put in many hours beyond a normal class, meeting deadlines with excellent work.”

Currently, students are working on projects for clients including the national office of the American Advertising Federation, Pinnacle Bank Arena’s “Green Arena Initiative,” the Nebraska Dairy Association, the Nebraska State Treasurer’s Unclaimed Property program and the Nebraska Educational Savings Trust, the Nebraska Shrine Bowl, Lincoln Midwest Ballet Company and Pinewood Bowl.
