The Public Relations Coordinator will assist with the public relations/marketing initiatives within Habitat Omaha. The right candidate with assist in creating and implementing PR and marketing campaigns that will enrich Habitat Omaha’s position within the public eye while helping to meet departmental goals. The PR coordinator will also assist with media relations and Habitat Omaha’s Speaker’s Bureau.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Promote Habitat Omaha and Habitat ReStore through creation of marketing materials, public service announcements (PSA’s) and social media networking sites. Including writing, photography, creative input and collaboration in event planning
• Serve as Habitat Omaha Ambassador, as needed;
• Assist with press releases and media follow-up
• Assist with Habitat Omaha and Habitat ReStore events
Knowledge/Skills/Experience:
Some college in public relations, marketing or related field, required
Excellent oral and written communication skills including public speaking
A desire to work with low income community and advocate for Habitat for Humanity-Omaha
Knowledge of the AmeriCorps VISTA program, regulations & benefits
Demonstrated experience with MS Office suite (MS Word, Excel, Outlook), and social media
Flexibility and ability to work with minimal supervision; Previous experience with low income families, preferred
Planning, organization and multi-tasking skills; detail oriented
Valid driver’s license, required
Physical Requirements & Service Site Environment:
Ability to work in an office environment as well as travel throughout the community for scheduled meetings and presentations; personal vehicle required with mileage reimbursement; able to lift 25 lbs.; member would share office space with other HFHO staffers but would have designated workspace.
All AmeriCorps are required to attend and participate in the following:
On site orientation; Tuesdays Staff meeting; at least one HFHO Board meeting; encouraged to attend HFHO events to educate attendees on their service to Habitat
AmeriCorps volunteer training during 1st month
Nationall Service Leadership Conference (fall); Build-a-thon (Spring); National Days of Service.
