NU Foundation paid design internship

The position of design intern involves “hands-on” design and production of printed materials such as invitations, programs, brochures and magazines, resulting in great work for student portfolios. The design intern may also support the foundation’s interactive marketing department by editing and optimizing images for online use and designing and placing graphical elements for online use. In addition to these core job duties, the intern is available to assist all members of the department with various projects and assignments.

This is a paid internship.

Principal Duties:
· Assist the Marketing Communication’s Art Director with design of various marketing and support materials including: invitations and envelopes, solicitation materials, publication design and layout, internal marketing communications materials and any other work as assigned.
· Assist the Marketing Communication’s Art Director with preparation of design files for print and work with various vendors for production of materials, including proofing of vendor proofs for accuracy and production issues.
· Assist the Marketing Communication’s Art Director with management of digital assets including but not limited to image organization and META data entry. Scanning of images, organization of images and files within the digital asset management system.

Secondary Duties:
· Help conduct database research, as needed or requested; intern will receive specific Raiser’s Edge database training.
· Help prepare mailings, as needed or requested.
· Help transcribe interviews, as needed or required.
· Help with clerical duties, as needed or requested, such as copying, organizing, file management, deliveries and more.
· Help prepare the organization’s daily outgoing mail my metering and applying postage to letters and packages, as needed or requested; intern will receive specific mail training.
· Help serve as the organization’s backup front desk receptionist, as needed or requested, by answering and directing incoming phone calls and greeting guests; intern will receive specific training on the phone system and receptionist protocols.

Job Requirements:
· Education: High school diploma and current enrollment at a school of higher education in Nebraska, with preference to the University of Nebraska.
· Minimum Experience: Some office experience preferred
· Specific skills:
o Excellent verbal communication skills
o Proficiency in desktop publishing (Adobe InDesign and PhotoShop CS) required. Adobe Illustrator CS a plus. Experience with HTML and basic CSS, Dreamweaver also a plus
o Project management and time management skills and abilities
o Good writing skills and ability
o Proficient with PC use, including Microsoft Word
