This competition is like no other. You’ll actually implement the plan you create to test your PR problem-solving savvy. The 2015 team did just that when they placed in the top 15 nationally. Now it’s time to form the 2016 team.

The goal? To increase awareness and support on college campuses and in communities of veterans who are students.

Applications for UNL’s 2016 national Bateman competition team are due Oct. 12.

Application process:
1. Send an email with your intention to apply to plarsen@unl.edu.
2. Once your name is received, you will be invited to submit a document to a Google Docs folder. In the document please include:
A) a list of your name, major, year in school, GPA, relevant internships or courses taken, name and contact info for one reference who knows your skills
B) a statement of 250 words or less, explaining why awareness of student veterans is important, why you want to help make it happen and what specific skills you bring to the team
C) a list of days and times (including evenings) you can regularly be available for team meetings between Oct. 26 and Dec. 18.
3. Also upload 2-4 work samples to the same Google Docs folder to illustrate the skills you’ve described.
