Mentorship early in a professional’s career has been linked to higher career satisfaction and can guide professional expertise development, many studies have shown. Mentors provide support, encouragement and advice to students, which is why the University of Nebraska–Lincoln College of Journalism and Mass Communications is launching a mentorship program for all CoJMC students and alumni.

“We, at the CoJMC, are excited to announce the launch of the mentorship program,” Associate Dean Frauke Hachtmann said. “This is a great opportunity for students and alumni to connect. Alumni have so much to share with our students, and I’m looking forward to seeing all the amazing connections that will come from this program.”

To kick off the new mentorship program, the CoJMC is hosting a Mentorship Mixer at the Freedom Forum in Andersen Hall on Oct. 26 at 3 p.m.

This mixer will be an opportunity for students and alumni to learn more about the program and get to know each other over desserts and beverages. Following the event, the CoJMC will work to pair mentors with mentees who are a good fit.

To register for the Mentorship Mixer, please fill out this form by Monday, Oct. 19: http://journalism.unl.edu/mentorship-mixer
