KETV-TV, Hearst Television’s ABC affiliate in Omaha is
looking for a reporter to join its news team. This position gathers and presents
traffic information for reports in the 5 – 7 a.m. morning newscasts. This is a key on-air position. General Assignment reporting for the
remainder of the shift. Fill-in anchor opportunities for the right person. KETV
will soon be relocating to a brand new facility in Omaha’s historic Burlington
Station with all of the latest equipment.
This position provides many opportunities for advancement.
Job Responsibilities:
• Gather
information for morning traffic reports including construction, accidents
and other obstructions.
• Plot
information in the traffic computer
• Deliver
on-air traffic reports during the morning newscasts and Good Morning
America cut-ins
• Use
graphics, traffic cameras and information from law enforcement to prepare
accurate and interesting traffic reports
• Prepare
interesting and accurate traffic reports.
• Obtain
information from law enforcement
• General
assignment reporting
• Some
live breaking news
Requirements:
• At least one year television traffic reporting preferred but willing to train the right person
• Television reporter with the ability and desire to do traffic reporting will be given strong consideration.
• At least one year general assignment reporting
• Radio traffic reporter with the demonstrated ability to do on camera work will be considered.
• Excellent on camera skills are a must
• Must have or develop a good working relationship with local law enforcement agencies
• Good on-camera presentation
• Understanding of Omaha roads and traffic patterns
• Familiarity with traffic computer and traffic camera systems.
• Works quickly and efficiently
• Good personality. Must connect with viewers
• Must enjoy being part of a team.
• Strong reporting, writing, packaging and live skills
Education:
Degree in broadcasting, journalism or related field
