Multimedia and Marketing Internships, Hear Nebraska

After five years of operating a strong, volunteer-based intern program, Hear Nebraska will offer paid internships in photo/multimedia and marketing/promotions in 2016. Hear Nebraska is looking for new candidates for the spring internship, with hopes that the right candidate would be able to stay on till fall 2016.

The application deadline is Dec. 7.

Multimedia
The state’s fastest growing music nonprofit, Hear Nebraska (HN) seeks an enterprising, self-starting, multimedia intern to help us tell Nebraska’s music story through images and video.
In five years, HN has established itself as the state’s premiere source for Nebraska music news, covering a wide variety of music genres and subjects statewide through words, photos, videos and audio. You would work directly with HN’s editors in either Lincoln or Omaha to capture and tell compelling stories about this cultural community with your camera (and phone). And your work would reach a major, global audience. Of the 27,000 visitors at hearnebraska.org each month, 7% are international. Our social media channels reach more than 20,000 followers.
We value sharp thinkers, self motivators, strong communicators, multitaskers with positive energy and, crucially, hustle. And we would like to find the right candidate who could commit to this position as long as through fall 2016.
If that sounds like you, let’s talk. (Be prepared to discuss your favorite Nebraska band.) Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
Attend and work multiple concerts weekly;
Pitch and pursue compelling story ideas;
Produce and publish regular feature stories and quickturnaround concert photos; Post captivating images/video on HN’s social feeds;
Update HN’s events calendar;
The ideal candidate possesses:
Ability to learn quickly and process criticism constructively;
Ability to communicate effectively and stay on task remotely;
Confidence shooting in often crowded, sometimes adverse conditions (all kinds of music; all kinds of genres);
Fluidity on social media;
A passion for Nebraska and its music.

Marketing/Promotions
The state’s fastestgrowing music nonprofit, Hear Nebraska (HN) seeks an uberefficient, detailoriented, taskdestroying badass to help develop and execute all of its eventsrelated promotion and marketing.
This is a big gig, with a lot of responsibility. In 2015, HN put more than 130 bands on stages in a dozen Nebraska towns through multiple concert series and oneoff events. Our website content reaches 27,000 people across the world each month, and we have more than 20,000 social media followers. In 2016, we’re expanding our programming to include education and even more concerts in even more places. Each event targets a unique audience, and represents its own challenges. We’ve always had great branding to work with. Now it’s time to step up our promotional game to effectively utilize it.
This is a ground floor opportunity for someone to come in and take our work to a new level. We value sharp thinkers, self motivators, strong communicators, multitaskers with positive energy and honest judgment, and hustle. We would love to find the right candidate who could commit to this position through fall 2016.
