Unity Lincoln is looking for a UNL intern to handle basic public relations tasks, under the supervision of the minister. This is a for-credit, unpaid internship.
The intern's assignments will be as follows:
· Prepare and distribute press releases, public service announcements, and fliers to local traditional media and on social media, and (in the case of fliers) at multiple public locations.
· Maintain up-to-date information on media contacts and appropriate websites for uploading PR information.
· Monitor news and social media to determine what press releases and PSAs have been successfully published.
· Maintain a log of the procedures used and how successful they were, including the intern's suggestions for improving PR activities at Unity Lincoln.
Documented and/or agreed-upon costs associated with performing the above assignments will be reimbursed by Unity Lincoln.
Requirements:
· Access to a computer with Internet service
· A car, with proof of insurance, and a driver's license
· Familiarity with MS Word and MS Publisher
· Trained in media relations, press release/PSA preparation (or equivalent, i.e., news writing)
· Some graphic design coursework desirable but not required
· Some photography coursework desirable but not required
· Self-directed and willing and able to work with others
Anticipate three hours of work per week, for one semester.
