Director of Communication, National Association of Wheat Growers (Washington DC)

Work with the leadership of the National Association of Wheat Growers, including the President, Board of Directors, CEO
and affiliated organizations to develop and implement a strategic communication plan that will increase the exposure of
the organization at the national and state level.

Duties:

-Develop and implement a strategic communication plan that involves multiple media platforms in conjunction with our state organizations.
-Oversee all media relations/requests, scheduling, planning and execution.
-Proactively pitch NAWG and National Wheat Foundation media to national, regional, and local media
-Organizing background material for interviews in conjunction with policy staff
-Develop a budget for the communication department including management of subscriptions
-Responsible for press releases, OpEds, social media, news clips distribution, drafting of weekly e-newsletter and quarterly and annual reports
-Manage website content for both National Association of Wheat Growers and National Wheat Foundation.
-Support Officers, CEO and policy staff in development of content for board meetings

Qualifications:

Qualified applicants will have a college degree in communication or journalism, equivalent work experience, or a
combination of education and experience; agriculture related communication experience is a plus. Qualifications include
good verbal and written communication aptitude, computer literacy including presentation software and social media,
knowledge of print production and publishing and electronic mediums and formats. Applicants must be able to work
independently and collaboratively within a team environment to support the organization.
