Apply now to be a News21 fellow and work with the nation’s top journalism students to produce in-depth news coverage and innovative digital storytelling that is published in national media outlets.

What is News21?
An amazing opportunity to work with the brightest journalism students in the country on a national reporting project funded by the Knight Foundation and Carnegie Corporation. This year’s topic is voting rights.

What will I learn?
The latest in innovative digital methods to distribute in-depth news coverage on critical national issues. During the spring seminar, you will study issues surrounding voting rights, under the guidance of Len Downie Jr., former executive editor of The Washington Post. You will participate in the seminar from Lincoln via distance technology.

Will I get paid?
Yes! You’ll receive $7,500 for the 10-week summer reporting project.

Where will I go?
The reporting project will be headquartered at Arizona State University, under the direction of William K. Marimow, a Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist and former top editor at the Philadelphia Inquirer and NPR.

Will I travel?
You quite possibly will travel as part of reporting for the project. If you do, all of your travel costs are paid.

Who can apply?
Any graduate or undergraduate student who has had at least one internship and has taken Journalism 350 by the end of the 2011-2012.
