Potential major moves to final stage of approval

The College of Journalism and Mass Communications is pleased to announce that the Board of Regents approved the proposed bachelor of journalism in sports media and communication. The process now moves to the Nebraska Coordination Commission of Postsecondary Education, which has 90 days to make a decision.

The sports media and communications program will feature classes in sports journalism, broadcasting and media relations. The degree features 12 elective hours where students can choose which of the three areas of sports media and communications they’d like to focus on, or they may take classes in all for a broader understanding. More information regarding the potential major will be made available this summer, pending approval.
