CoJMC professor Dane Kiambi was selected to be a 2017 Plank Fellow by The Plank Center for Leadership in Public Relations. Kiambi will work with host organization General Motors to enhance his professional development, leadership growth and networking skills.

“I’m honored and delighted at being selected as a 2017 Plank Fellow,” Kiambi said. “I’m very grateful to GM for agreeing to host me. The knowledge and experience I will gain from how GM communicates with its various publics will be incorporated into my courses and research in the future.”

The Fellowship for Educators Program works to bridge the gap between education and practice. Ten educators are selected each year to be part of a two-week intensive fellowship with their host organization. The fellows will partake in research projects, training sessions and presentations, and assist with company projects. In return, each host organization will spend at least two days at the educator’s college working with students and faculty to share industry knowledge, trends and insight. More than 65 educators have been selected since the program’s inception, eight years ago.

Kiambi will invite a GM representative to the CoJMC in the fall or spring semester.
