Sign up to interview for an internship with the Grand Island Independent on Nov. 15

The Grand Island Independent is seeking applicants for its summer newswriting internship. The 10-week, paid internship presents an opportunity to write a wide variety of news and feature stories covering everything from local festivals to police and government news to enterprise pieces. The intern will gain professional reporting experience while working alongside The Independent’s team of experienced journalists and should end the summer with a file full of high-quality clips, including front-page bylines. The successful applicant should be inquisitive and eager and should display a good command of language and Associated Press style. Experience is helpful, but a willingness to tackle anything and everything while learning is equally important. Everyone from seniors who will be graduating in May on down to freshmen will be considered. Interviews will be conducted in Andersen Hall on Nov. 15. Applicants must sign up to interview in the Andersen Hall front office (147 Andersen) and should bring a resume and three clips to the interview. Stories written for publication are preferable over stories written as class assignments. A cover letter is not necessary.
